Going to a Singles Event Alone: What to Expect

Your friend can stay home. You don’t have to.

You fancy meeting someone new. Your friends are busy, coupled up or still discussing a plan for next month. Meanwhile, this Friday is available.

You can come to We Met Here’s singles events in Barcelona alone, without knowing anyone beforehand. Our regular evenings usually run on Fridays from 8–11pm, with a personality quiz, colour stickers and a match reveal to give you a few easy reasons to start talking.

You bring yourself. We help with the icebreakers.

You already have something in common

At an ordinary bar, you might spend half the evening wondering whether the person you fancy is single. At We Met Here, you are meeting people who have come for the same reason: they are single and open to meeting someone.

Coming alone gives you freedom to follow your own curiosity. Stay in a conversation you enjoy, join a group or meet someone new. You do not have to coordinate your evening with a friend who is ready to leave just as things get interesting.

And you do not need to arrive with a clever opening line. That is where the colours come in.

Four colours, plenty to talk about

Our personality quiz game places you in one of four colour groups based on your answers. You pick up a sticker in your colour, making it easy to spot people in a similar personality group around the room.

“What colour did you get?” becomes a perfectly useful introduction.

You might start with someone wearing the same sticker: “Apparently we’re similar. Do you agree with yours?” Or ask someone with a different colour about their result. Compare answers, discuss the question that made you hesitate and see where the conversation goes.

The sticker gives you somewhere to start. You can talk to anyone who catches your interest, whatever colour they are wearing.

Later, you discover your top three quiz matches

At a set point during the evening, the reveal shows you the three people whose quiz answers were most similar to yours.

Perhaps you have already been chatting with one of them. Perhaps there is someone you have yet to meet. Either way, “Apparently we answered alike” gives you an easy reason to say hello.

These are matches based on similar answers. Whether there is attraction is something you discover together, in person.

You may agree on the quiz and disagree completely about the best place for brunch. Plenty of material for a first conversation.

What happens after the icebreaker?

Follow whatever interests you. They mention a recent trip? Ask about it. They have just moved to Barcelona? Find out how they are settling in. They recommend a café? You are allowed to ask for the name.

Share something back, too. A conversation is easier when both people have something to follow.

You can also use the classics: “Have you been to We Met Here before?” or “What made you come tonight?”

Our regular social evenings give conversations room to find their own pace, without compulsory speed-dating rotations. The game helps you meet people; you decide which conversations you want to continue.

What if you feel awkward or do not click straight away?

Give yourself a little time. Some conversations get going immediately. Others take a moment. You can enjoy meeting someone without deciding whether you fancy them.

If a conversation reaches a natural end, “Lovely meeting you” is enough. Move around, take a breather or ask a host for help joining in again.

There is no need to meet the whole room. A few good conversations can make an enjoyable Friday.

And if you do meet someone you would like to see again, keep it simple: “I’ve enjoyed talking to you. Would you like to get coffee this week?”

No fireworks budget required.

A few things you might be wondering

Can you go to We Met Here alone?

Yes. You can attend our Barcelona singles events on your own without knowing anyone beforehand. The personality quiz, colour stickers and match reveal give you easy conversation starters.

How does the personality quiz work?

Your answers place you in one of four colour groups, and you wear a sticker in that colour. Later in the evening, you discover your top three matches—the people whose quiz answers were most similar to yours.

Do you have to talk only to your matches?

No. You can meet anyone in the room. Your colour and quiz matches give you introductions to explore, while leaving you free to follow your own interest.

Does a quiz match mean romantic compatibility?

It means you answered the quiz similarly. Attraction and chemistry are things you get to discover by talking and spending time together.

When are We Met Here’s regular Barcelona events?

They usually take place on Fridays from 8–11pm. Check the individual event listing for the confirmed date, time, venue, age criteria and ticket inclusions.

Is it better to come alone or bring a friend?

Choose whichever helps you enjoy the evening. Coming alone lets you follow your own conversations. A friend can make arriving feel more comfortable. If you bring someone, they should meet the event criteria and have their own booking.

What if someone makes you uncomfortable?

Step away and speak to the We Met Here team. You can take a break or leave whenever you want.

Your next Friday could start with hello

You do not need to wait for a friend’s calendar to match yours.

Choose an evening, come along and see who you enjoy talking to. You might leave with a number, a coffee plan or a few new faces to recognise next time.
